TeamSnap vs. SportsEngine: compare the club products and family workflow
For a club comparing TeamSnap vs. SportsEngine, request TeamSnap ONE and SportsEngine HQ by name. These are the club products covered here. Get a quote for your club’s size and the work your staff needs to do.
Both list registration, payments, rosters, schedules and messages. Ask each vendor to follow the same fictional family from sign-up to its first schedule change. Watch the steps the registrar, coach and parents each handle.
We reviewed official product and help pages on September 30, 2026. We have not tested either product. The HQ sections below name its Season Management tools. Secondslide publishes this guide and offers program operations and outfitting.

Follow registration through team placement
Start with two siblings on different teams. Add their second guardian. Then correct one player’s team and ask an assistant coach to find that roster. Include a coach who joins after sign-ups close.
TeamSnap ONE lists registration, rosters, schedules and messages in its club offer. Have the seller show those steps in ONE, using the package you plan to buy. Source: TeamSnap ONE.
SportsEngine’s Season Management guide says players and staff must be in the directory before team assignment. Registration or the Member Directory can supply the records. Ask who adds a missing player or late coach. Source: SportsEngine Season Management rostering.
Ask this in both demos: If the registrar moves a player to another team, what does everyone else need to update? Record each manual step and who owns it.
Show a deposit and later payments
Begin with the family’s bill. How much is due today? How much is each later payment, and when is it due? For TeamSnap ONE, have the seller show the choices in your offer. Record payment methods and what staff can change if a family needs help.
SportsEngine HQ lets staff set the number of installments and the share due in each. Staff also choose the gap between due dates or specific dates. For an itemized sale, each sale item sets the amount due at checkout. The chosen payment terms split the rest into later installments. HQ allows up to three payment-term choices in a sale, plus pay-in-full. Source: HQ payment terms.
The HQ guide requires Full Access or Limited Access - Financials permissions to add payment terms. Have your dues manager use the access you plan to give them. Then check the parent’s bill and the report staff will use to track balances.
Compare fees using the same number of payments. HQ’s management fees use a negotiated percentage and a fixed charge per counted transaction. More installments can increase the fixed charges. Have the seller calculate your estimate with the rates in your quote. Source: HQ management fees.
Try your shared-field rules, then a rainout
A coach posting practices needs a calendar. A director setting games across shared fields may also need a generator. Bring the job you have today to both demos.
HQ’s Season Management Scheduling Assistant starts with teams, divisions, venues and available times. Staff set rules, generate matchups and place games with Autoschedule. They then review conflicts and make manual moves. Run your shared-field and coach rules through that tool. Record any games that still need work. Source: Scheduling Assistant.
TeamSnap ONE lists scheduling. If you need a generator, have the seller create the matchups and fit them into your field slots. Ask which tool and package that uses. For a broader shortlist, see the sports scheduling software guide.
Next, move a practice to a new field. Open both guardians’ accounts and check the event and notices. In SportsEngine Mobile, the event guide shows a notice control. Its guardian guide covers invitations and access. Have the demo host show the accepted invitation and notice settings for each test guardian. Sources: SportsEngine event notices, guardian access.
Put the quotes beside each other
TeamSnap customizes club pricing. Request a TeamSnap ONE quote for the club work you tried. A coach choosing one team’s app can use the single-team app comparison. Source: TeamSnap pricing.
Request an HQ quote from SportsEngine with its package and payment fees. When we checked on September 30, the HQ site’s pricing link went to SportsEngine Motion pricing. Confirm HQ on the written offer. The SportsEngine pricing worksheet covers setup, software and payment costs.
Use the same player count, total fees and payment count in both offers. Include staff access and required add-ons. Total club-paid vendor costs and family-paid vendor fees separately for the first year and renewal. Keep the program’s own dues out of those totals. Leave any unquoted amount marked “unknown.”
SportsEngine is now part of PlayMetrics. Ask the current HQ seller to confirm your package and terms. Source: PlayMetrics and SportsEngine.
